Project HitSeed
is based on ATTRACT project DEBARE
Background
The HitSeed project brief highlighted that augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR) is expected to have a profound effect on how businesses operate, on how people work in several sectors and industries and in people’s lives in the future. It is true that VR/AR capabilities were developed some years ago, however, the current research and commercialisation of AR/VR focuses mainly on visual representation as a lone form of interaction.
HitSeed and Aalto University (as sponsors of this project) believe that truly ground-breaking solutions to real-life problems depend heavily on intelligent touch-based interaction. It is believed that a more intuitive and innovative way of utilising this technology can be developed.
HitSeed, Aalto University and Team FRAGE have come together to research, generate ideas and prototype wearable devices that provide interaction with AR/VR to provide a definitive solution to a problem many people have experienced: rehabilitation processes and the difficulties it encompasses.
Outcome
Team FRAGE have come up with an innovative and intuitive way of managing rehabilitation processes and patient-physiotherapist relationships. We have brought up Stelo – a rehabilitation tool which enables patients to carry out their physiotherapy routine at the comfort of their homes, as well as monitor their own progress in real time. Not only that, Stelo provides relaxing, gamified experiences which simulate the exercises in the patient’s routine/schedule.
Stelo is a portable device, which allows the patient to carry out their routine anywhere, at any time. The device is able to record patient movement, thus tracking the progress of the patient in an efficient and understandable way. Welcome to the future of rehabilitation.
